READ Psalm 91:1-2. He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.”
MEDITATE. Scripture tells us of a secret place, hidden with God, where we can find refuge and safety. It is a place of fellowship with God, where we are “protect[ed] from trouble and surround[ed] with songs of deliverance” (Psalm 32:7). The secret place is where the Father is and He invites us to enter in and abide. Matthew 6:6 paints the picture: “go into your room, and when you have shut your door, pray to your Father who is in the secret place.” How do we get to the secret place? His Word makes it clear: shut the door! Today we can choose to shut the door on the noise of this world: the noise of anxiety, panic, and fear, and listen to the Voice of the One who calls us to abide with Him, concealed in the secret place.
PRAY. Almighty God, You are my hiding place, my refuge when troubles come. I confess I have given ear to the competing thoughts of this world and have put my trust in earthly things. My safety, security, and provision are not contingent on economies, governments, or man-made systems, but are met in You alone (Psalm 20:7). Father, I place my trust in You and find rest under the shadow of Your wings (Psalm 17:8).
With Love,
