Stir Faith

In a season full of uncertainty and anxiety, we can have unlimited web access to whatever we choose. As Christ followers, I hope we regularly consume the promises of God. When we do, we are reminded that the one who holds our future, is also the one who parted the Red Sea, saved Noah and his family from a global flood, or spared 3 men from the fires of a furnace.
When I open up my Bible, or spend time in prayer, I cannot escape the reminder that God is far larger than every problem that I face. Anxiety can’t stick around when I look at the God who has been good to His word since the beginning of time. I cannot help but experience a stirred faith that turns my worries into worship and my anxiety into excitement.
This week I hope you will make time and space to consume some promises and stir your faith.

Ways to stir your faith:

Reading the Bible: God’s word has stood the test of time. It is unfailing, it is relevant for everything we face today, and it is full of Hope! If you are new to reading the bible I suggest starting in Psalms and working from there!
If you don’t have a bible, check out amazon and search “New believer Bible- NLT” or download the YouVersion or ReadScripture App!

Write a List of God’s promises: Scripture is FULL of God telling us the good things He does for those who love Him. Journal those scriptures so that on days when you feel anxious or concerned for the future, you can pull those out and be reminded of what God promises you! I will start you off…Exodus 14:14 is one of my favorites! “The Lord will fight for you; you only need to be still.”

Praise: When we feel heavy and burdened, God promises us in his word that we can come to HIm and exchange for that for a spirit of Praise. Praise is thankfulness. It is acknowledging the wonderful things God has done for you in your past, your present, and in your future. Fear can’t stay around when praise to God is on our lips. Heaviness has to leave- cuz God says so! So either write a list of all the great things God has done- even the overlooked things like keeping you healthy today, or providing for your simple needs. Also- remember worship music is designed to help us praise- I love keeping it on ALL DAY when life feels heavy.

‘Great is thy faithfulness oh God my Father, all I have needed, your hand has provided.’

All my Love,

Pastor Lauren
